What the Verified badge means
It is not a review score and it cannot be bought. It is a statement about the record — that the licence resolved, the owner confirmed the details, and we are still checking.
Contact confirmed by the owner
Someone at the company signed in and confirmed phone, address and service area in the last 12 months. We verify that person by phone callback or a company-domain email before their confirmation counts.
Re-checked, not frozen
Every verified record is re-tested against its source on a rolling 90-day cycle. Badges lapse automatically when a licence expires or a registry entry disappears. Nobody has to remember to remove them.
What it explicitly does not mean
Not a quality rating
A verified company has provable credentials. That is a different claim from "they will do a good job", and we do not make the second one.
Not a paid placement
No company can buy a badge, buy a higher position, or pay to have an unfavourable record removed. Claiming is free for everyone.
Not a guarantee of availability
Hours and emergency coverage are self-reported by the owner. We verify that the owner said it, not that a truck will arrive.

Can a company pay for the Verified badge?
No. The badge is not for sale and carries no advertising component. It is granted when a licence number resolves against a public registry and the owner has confirmed the contact details. Claiming a listing is free.
Is the Verified badge a quality or review score?
No. It is a statement about the record, not about workmanship. A verified company has provable credentials and confirmed contact details. It says nothing about whether you will be happy with the job.
How often are verified records re-checked?
Every verified record is re-tested against its source on a rolling 90-day cycle. If a licence lapses or a registry record disappears, the badge is removed automatically — no human has to intervene.
Why does my company appear without a badge?
Most records start as public data with no licence match. That is a thin record, not a judgement. Claiming the listing and adding a licence number that resolves against its registry turns it into a verified record.
Where does the underlying data come from?
State and national licensing boards, business registries, insurance certificates and owner-submitted confirmations. Every field on a profile carries the source it came from and the date we last checked it.
How do I report an incorrect record?
Use the Suggest an edit link on any profile. Reports are re-checked against the original source within 48 hours; edits from a claimed account re-publish within the hour.
